Mist Pavilion
A low concrete-and-glass dwelling that yields to the coastal mist, its deep eaves dissolving the boundary between water, sky, and structure.
A house that yields to the fog rather than fights it — atmosphere as the principal material.
Constructed with Board-Formed Concrete, Weathering Steel, Frameless Glass, Dark Anodised Trim, the pavilion ages with the climate. Weathering steel, board-formed concrete, and dark glazing all gather patina from the marine air, the building deepening rather than deteriorating.
The fog is not a problem. The fog is the building.
Set on the foggy coastline of southern Tasmania, Mist Pavilion was completed in 2024 as a private residence. The 280 m² home rests low across a 4,500 m² headland, its deep horizontal eaves and glazed elevations dissolving against the marine fog.
